What Does My Dancer Need to Wear to Practice?

Dancers are required to wear a black t-shirt and black leggings. This is because it helps create unity within the team and helps the coaches see the team as a whole. They must also have turners/pirouettes and tennis shoes that do not have too much traction (no crocs, please).

What Is Dance Team Etiquette?

As a member of the Frontier Dance Team, you are to promote school spirit and good sportsmanship. You are to conduct yourself in an exemplary manner. Your actions as individuals reflect upon your school and the entire district, as well as the Dance Team, both positively and negatively. There will be no negative remarks about dance regarding teammates and coaching staff.  All too often, it only takes a quick second to write something about someone and then post. You cannot erase or remove it because it is already in the cyber world. For this reason, be aware of the content of what you post and how it reflects not only on yourself, but your team as well. All dancers will be held accountable for how they act, how they speak and what they write. We would like our team to remember that they chose to tryout to be on the Dance Team. Some reasons could be for the love of dance, making new friends, promoting school spirit and competition. These are important, and we want to start with our basics. We are a dance team family and we need to remember to be respectful and treat each other kindly. Being on this team should be a positive experience for all. Years from now, we want you to look back, have a smile on your face and remember all that you accomplished being a member of this team. Please be conscientious in doing the right thing.

What About Performances? Will My Dancer Perform in All the Routines?

Not all dancers will dance at every performance.  The coaches will determine who will be eligible to participate in each performance based on ability to perform the routine confidently, without mistakes.  Attendance will also be a primary consideration.  Dancers need to understand that they may not always get to perform.  Selected Dancers will have alternates for competition routines.  Ability, grades, and attendance will all be factors in selecting alternates for competition routines. All dancers will be part of the recorded routines to play for the school.  Performances that are not part of a competition all dancers can participate if they are in good standing.

What are the Practice Attendance Policies?

Dancers are required to attend all practices. The only absences that will be considered excused are those that are excused with a doctor's note (for injury or illness) or those that are a required part of a class for school. Dancers should not miss practice for medical and dental appointments that can be scheduled at other times. All other absences will be considered unexcused, regardless of the reason. Dancers must be present at practice prior to a competition (Fridays) to be eligible to compete the next day. If dancers miss more than 25% of practices before the first competition (January 27th) the dancer may be unable to compete.
